The Baja Big Fish Company has discontinued its affiliation with the International Game Fish Association. So we are no longer an I.G.F.A. certified Weigh Station.

We will instead focus our efforts on Eco Alianza de Loreto our grass roots conservation organization. This author has been recently elected to Eco Alianza's board of directors. In addition to this we have become more integrated into the local fishing community by becoming members of Ensenada de los Metates cooperative and in the formation of the Loreto Fishermen's Union.

We believe that it will be more constructive to focus our fisheries conservations efforts at the local level as this is where the changes have been made successfully. We also believe that The Billfish Foundation has made more headway in protecting our local Baja California Sur fishery than the IGFA has. And finally we do not share the same philosophy on tournaments that the IGFA does. We are of the opinion that aside from small scale catch and release private tournaments among friends, we'd rather not be associated with tournaments.
